The Center for Disease Control recommends that children exercise the minimum of sixty minutes per day to maintain their physical and mental health. So, the Sheridan Celebrates Committee chose Alice Terry Elementary’s After School Soccer Program as their 2023 charity partner. Dawn Coe PhD, Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee, states that “Physically active children perform better in school than their less-active counterparts.” Soccer, in particular, is an active sport that improves cardio health, coordination, agility and balance. Alice Terry’s After School Soccer Program promotes social development through problem solving, teamwork and communication between all participants, no matter their grade level or gender. The students at Alice Terry Elementary need your financial support.

DONATE and provide after school soccer excitement to children kindergarten through second grade. Every donated dollar will go directly to the program. Each donation also counts as one vote for the individual Sheridan’s Got Talent contestant, or contestants, of your choice. Vote online starting April 7 at your home computer or on your phone at https://SheridanSoccer.causevox.comSheridan’s Got Talent contestants are community volunteers who created their own videos, sharing their unique, special abilities. Watch the videos and vote with a donation. You will be entertained and strengthen the academic performance of Alice Terry students. Michael Jordon quotes, “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, and others make it happen.” Help the Sheridan Celebrates Committee “make it happen” for the Alice Terry kids.

The online Sheridan’s Got Talent Contest is just part of the traditional Sheridan Celebrates Events. The time-honored Sheridan Celebrates Grand Parade, Children’s Parade and Festival will return on Saturday, September 30, on the lovely lawn of City Hall, 4101 S. Federal Blvd. You can learn more about all the 2023 activities by visiting the Sheridan Celebrates Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SheridanCelebrates. Also, watch this newsletter for information and updates regarding Sheridan Celebrates. Keep informed and get involved with the unique camaraderie that simply cannot be found anywhere else but through Sheridan Celebrates Parade and Festival.
