Sheridan and South Suburban Awarded Grant for Renovation of Chase Park
Arapahoe County Open Spaces has awarded the City of Sheridan $414,000 for the renovation and expansion of Chase Park. City Council was presented with the funds at their meeting on September 23rd, 2019, by Arapahoe County Commissioner Kathleen Conti.
In 2016, a vacant parcel adjacent to the park was donated to the City of Sheridan. The project will renovate the existing park and incorporate the donated parcel. Improvements will include new playground equipment, a picnic shelter, half court basketball court, and a small turf field on the expanded parcel. Significant accessibility, lighting, and landscaping improvement are also included in the project.
The new design was developed by South Suburban Parks and Recreation District with feedback gathered from residents and park users from neighborhood meetings in 2017. The total cost of the renovation and expansion project will be $552,000, with the balance paid by the City and South Suburban. Construction is expected to begin by the end of December with a reopening planned for summer of 2020.
