Traffic Enforcement

Purpose & Function

Be a safe driver and always wear your seat belt - its the law!

The Traffic Enforcement Unit exists to help reduce the number and severity of traffic accidents and ensure the safety of the general public.

Traffic officers attempt to reduce the number of accidents and increase public safety through a comprehensive approach involving public education, enforcement action, and accident investigation. The unit's goal is to increase the safety of the streets and roadways within the City of Sheridan.

Traffic officers work on identifying dangerous drivers and high-accident locations through selective traffic enforcement. Selective traffic enforcement is when officers work a certain area in order to reduce the number of accidents or reduce the number of traffic violators.
